A few months ago, I created a workflow for writing out detailed lesson plans using Ulysses and Markdown. What I didn’t have was a good way to plan view a whole day, week, quarter, or year. I have tried spreadsheets in Numbers and outlines in OmniOutliner. Neither suited me. Then yesterday, I saw this tweet from Frasier Spiers:
Some might think it overkill that I use @OmniPlan to schedule my teaching year but I never, ever run out of time to teach my courses.— Fraser Speirs (@fraserspeirs) July 31, 2015
The OmniGroup has four apps they develop: OmniFocus, OmniOutliner, OmniGraffle, and OmniPlan. OmniPlan was the only one I have not tried because I didn’t understand what it does or what it could be used for. I’ve now downloaded the 14 day free trial to learn and test out. I’m also using Spiers’s detailed writeup of how he sets up OmniPlan I’m hopeful this will be my new tool for lesson plans from here on out.
School starts this week! The beginning of the school year is crazy, so I’m not sure how much content I’ll be able to put out, but I look forward to sharing workflows, tools, and activities from my classroom soon.
