A little over a week ago, Michael Hyatt posted on his blog an update to his 2012 post about how he organizes his notes within Evernote.
Instead of dozens of notebooks, he is now primarily using tags to set a structure. I had begun slowly transitioning to fewer notebooks and more tags, but his system takes it to a new level. Focusing on Evernote’s ability to “nest” tags, he creates a hierarchy impossible in notebooks and stacks.
This past week, I took the time to transition my setup to a more tag based structure and am so far, quite happy. Even if I eventually add a few notebooks back, most of the tags are quite helpful.
Check out Hyatt’s post. He does a great job of explaining how and why he uses tags instead of notebooks.
Do you use any tags inside of Evernote? Let me know in the comments.
